Am I Missing Something?

As most of you have heard, President Obama recently presented his proposal for the new 2010 budget to Congress. It includes a four percent increase in defense spending. But according to some, that increase is actually proof that he’s going to “disarm America”. Read it (and weep):
Defense, a Disarmingly Low Priority
Not much commentary here. I’m just intensely curious how increasing defense spending by 4% in a year “shows he is serious about disarming America”, especially when the initial look at the plan shows no cuts in any of the systems the Investor’s Business Daily’s editorial board likes so much.
Really Long Link
Also, just to keep things in perspective, the United States by itself accounts for 45% of world defense spending, more than five times the defense budgets of Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and Syria combined. NATO accounts for over two-thirds. I don’t think we’re in danger of being out-gunned.
Really Long Link
And IBD mentioned the ballistic missile threat from North Korea? The part of the 2009 budget devoted to missile defense in the United States amounted to more than the entire military expenditure of that country.
Really Long Link
